Back to Main PageKIDS CLUBOur Claws'n'Paws Hartlepool KIDS CLUB . Educating our children and young people as to how they can get involved in looking after small birds and animals is what KIDS CLUB is all about. Covering Ages 10 to 17 they get hands on experience in learning how to look after rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, guinea pigs, ferrets and a whole variety of small domestic AND wild birds in our care and how to feed and care for them properly. In the 'wild' department we've had, foxes, Canada and greylag geese, finches, parrots, and even rare species like the odd Avocet or Cormorant that come our way via our Bird & Animal Rescue Team. We also had Seagulls, Crows, Pheasants and Quail through our doors. The young people can get to know one or two of our birds or animals in care as if they were their own, and maybe provide them a home through our re-homing or 'buddies' schemes. Some KIDS CLUB members can also sponsor their furry friends once they have the know how. Our Shelter Site Manager is on-site to help and advise. If small children want to get involved in animal welfare or volunteer work through their local school, college or youth or residents group, this is a good way to get them started and see if they like it ! We continuously seek funding to enable children and their accompanying parents to get involved and we hold fund raising events and outings for KIDS CLUB members and through our ARK scheme (Animal Rescue Kids). Occasional various Ecological and Environmental Projects also run from time to time under these schemes but only as and when funds permit. A minimum donation of £1.00 per child per visit is asked for, to cover consumable costs (times are variable and at the site-managers discretion)AND all children and Young people from 10 yrs up to age 17yrs, MUST have parental consent to join.
