Most are Cats, Dogs*, Bunnies, Garden or Aviary Birds, Parrots, Hedgehogs, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils, Ferrets, Stoats, Voles etc, Sea and Lakeland Birds and other small birds and animals (both in the wild and domestic) who are in need of immediate help. To avert cruelty to birds and animals by providing educational, environmental and training resources to promote good animal welfare practices and to allow people of all ages to share and take part in this responsibility. To give ALL members of the community (especially those who have disabilities, special needs or learning difficulties), the opportunity to enhance their learning, skills and quality of life through a varied theraputic and stimulating experience of working closely with small birds and animals, through our Community Volunteers & Supporters Group. To jointly make a valuable contribution to the bird and animal community, together with our members, partners and associates, by arranging long term care for distressed, abused, ill-treated, injured or sick birds and animals who come into our care, and to continue doing so for as long as support is provided from donors, fund-raising and grants and by sharing good practice and promoting better care and welfare for all birds and animals in distress and supporting any who are at risk or in immediate danger. To support a local community Volunteers and Supporters Group enabling and empowering people to make a real, valuable and responsible contribution to reducing cruelty to animals in and around the Hartlepool and extended Tees Valley areas and to create opportunities for members of the community to become more involved in raising funds and awareness in providing medication, warmth, food and shelter for the birds and animals who come into our care and learning how to become involved in the social responsibility of how to look after the welfare and wellbeing of all small birds and animals in and around our communities. * NB: we can only accommodate up to 2 dogs at any one time due to our planning permissions but can advise and refer dogs to suitable facilities as appropriate after providing emergency care.
